How do you become a 4.0 pickleball player?
As a pickleball player, the goal is always to improve your skill rating. Level 4.0 refers to those who are advanced intermediate players. Check out the following 4 skills you need to become a 4.0 pickleball player.
1. Effective dinks
The main goal in dinking is to force a low-contact point from your opponent. If you’re hitting good dinks, you are limiting their attacking ability.
2. Competitive Volleys
Volley is an important skill to practice at any level. You can make volleys more competitive by speeding up the pace gradually. After every stroke, get back to a good ready position. Attack on the dominant side of the opponent.
3. Hitting Reset Volleys from the Transition Zone
Probably the hardest skill to master in-game. Start off closer to the non-volley zone line. Any time you are in the transition zone, do your best to hit a good unattackable ball that’s dropping in front of your opponent into their non-volley zone. Make sure you are stable, not leaning back when hitting the shot. Try to keep every ball descending down into the non-volley zone.
4. 3rd Shot Drop
Force the ball closer to the non-volley zone line. If you do not have a solid and consistent 3rd shot drop, it’s going to be very hard for you to get better.
